“A Kick for a Bite” Book News is again in the air as the Trad or Legacy publishers try to stop the loss of Authors from their ranks. The mud-slinging that the Trad publishers, or “Big 5” as the multi-national corporate giants are sometimes called is being slung by their Lackey’s on TV cable channels by so-called “news journalists”, and via 5 giant corporate owned “journalists” still hovering in near-empty newsrooms at newspapers. The actual truth of the matters seems to be kicking them all in the butt, as more and more people in the book business chime-in and offer intelligent and carefully thought-out (and backed-up) responses. The Big 5 Book publishers used to take out full page newspaper ads -with the unwritten code that newspapers would force their writers to write “glowing reviews” of the big 5 latest book release. Now that newspapers are not being read as much, the old marketing styles are not working. And since BN was taking payola to have big publisher book posters in windows and their book covers facing out… and since BN profits have tanked, the Old promo Model seems to not be working for the Mega Corp. Big 5 publishers — In chess I think that is called, Check, or perhaps even Checkmate… the future will tell…
